New Week, New City

Well were are on the Tail end of San Deigo. We arrived on Monday and it was sunny warm and exactly what we needed coming from Denver. Ashley and I both started sing California Girls when we got off the plane!

We checked in to the hotel which is a historic hotel called The Sophia in the heart of downtown. Its a wee bit smaller than the rooms we had in Denver but its very clean and modern and the free lotion smells GREAT!!! I take them and put them in my purse the the cleaning lady will leave more! HAHAHA

This week Ashley and I havnt done too much since we are only here a week, we dont have too much downtime so we are trying to balance hanging out and seeing the city. We went to the beach on Thursday and watched our friend Forest surf and we worked on our tans.

Yesterday Timmy and Corinna drove down for the day. They took Ashley and I out to breakfast at a faboulus place that was featured on the Food Network called Cafe 222. I had amazing Peanut Butter and Bannana French Toast. It was sooo good, Im still thinking about it.

Since my computer was broken I asked them to re-search a new computer for me so they brought a New Mac book for me and showed me all the features and downloaded all the programs on it for me. We sat in the lobby most of the afternoon and they had the chance to meet some of the cast and crew as they walked through the lobby to and from thier rooms at the hotel. This is the first computer that I have ever purchased. Now I can post pictures once I load them off my camera.

Last night Lindsey, Kyle, Ashleys good friends Jessica and Jason drove down to San Diego. Ryan, Nicole, Stephanie, Greg, Robert came this morning and Harold and Marissa are coming later today. We sure feel loved and are excited to have dinner and go out with everyone tonight.

Im sitting at the theater typing this post and the song/scence that affects me most during the play just came on and I thought I would share it with you. The words are:

I know the night is dying dear...
I know the day will dawn...
The dancers may disappear-
Still the dance goes on

and on.

I'll wake alone tomorrow,
The dream of our dances through.

But now until forever, love
I'll live to dance with you.

I'll dream, my love...
I'll live, my love...
and I'll die to dance with-

We leave for San Francisco on Monday and we are so excited to be in one place for 4 weeks. We discovered this week that the one week cities are hard. We want to do everything we can in each city but we do value our downtime too.

In San Diego the theater is very small and we dont have any place to put our backstock or a nice place to plug in our printer and computer. We are storing our boxes in the room that the teater stores the Grand Piano and we have to find the local prop guy to open it everytime we need something so its kinda a bummer.

Alright well I guess thats it for now. Hope you all have great weekend :)

Rocky Mountain High

Ok so I don't love the coldness that Denver is experiencing right now. It's dipping down in the single digits and I'm not having any of it! Wowzers! It's hard to want to leave the hotel and experience the city. We are trying but it just isn't up our alley to walk around on the slushy cold streets.

So Ashley and I have befriended some of the crew people and were invited over for dinner tonight. The head carpenter is the coolest guy and is basically like our road dad. He is always checking in on us and making sure were being taken care of. He picked us up from our hotel so we didn't have to walk in the snow to the other hotel (since we're too cheap to get a taxi and he has a rental car). Forest was the cook/host for the evening and made pork chops for all us tonight. They were pretty darn good! Ashley and I put our non-cooking skills to work and walked down to a bakery to buy cookies so we could contribute to the meal.

Tomorrow we are bracing the cold to see the Molly Brown House(aka The Unsinkable Molly Brown from Titanic) and a tour of the U.S. Mint. It's hard to do too much with out a car so were going to take a taxi to the first stop and walk to the next. I hope to get some good pictures on the way so hopefully we walk by some good stuff. I still havnt got the computer all figured out so still no pictures for a while.

Next week is San Diego and I can't wait for the warmer weather. We are only there for a week but excited to see our friends who are driving down from Simi to see us. Can't wait!

Denver is growing on me, it really is. We've been doing more walking and our hotel is only a half a mile from the theater. There is a really cool outdoor mall on 16th street that has a complimentary shuttle running all day long. It has a ton of places to shop and plenty of cheap and expensive places to eat.

Yesterday was our first full day and our first "load in" day. Araca sent out another merch manager who is currently between shows to help us with load out in L.A. and load in here in Denver. He thinks Ashley and I are a sideshow from a circus and we have to agree. We got things set up and had a good first night of sales in Denver. Our stock room is literally a cage backstage... good thing we don't believe in ghosts otherwise we would be pretty freaked out. Every theater we've been to has an old ghost of a person who died at the theater and everytime Ashley and I hear that we roll our eyes.

Today Ashley and I slept and relaxed most of the day. I actually made it down to the gym so I met one of my goals for this year. The reading plan is behind schedule. Actually it hasn't even started. The first few days I was busy packing to leave and upon arrival in Denver I went to turn on Tyson laptop and it didn't work so I can't access anything on the computer which included pictures from my cameras, music or my bible reading plan. Looks like it will start the first of February...

This means all posts are coming from my phone which means lots of spelling errors and no pictures until I get the computer situation figured out. :(

For dinner tonight Ashley and I ate at Cafe Rialto on 16th street. I had a hard time deciding what to get and Ashley mentioned that our good friend Nida said the Bison burger was something we should try while we were in Denver. so I decided to just do it. no better time than now right? It aS Very very good. it tasted like a very tender hamburge, I really wouldn't have notice a difference if I didn't know before I ordered it. Tonight I'm off of work. Joe and Ashley are working giving me the night off so here I am on the hotel room knitting and watching another one of Tyson favorite movies Tin Cup. He always thought this one was funny, but then again he had a lot of favorite movies.

Here is the link for the tour schedule so if you want to come see us or are in any of the same towns and want to meet up, let me know. Tell us sooner than later, we would hate for a bunch of people to come into town the same weekend and we wouldn't be able to hang out with you as much as we would like to.

Denver Day 1

Well day 1! I left this morning to head down to LAX to head for Denver. It's was very hard to say goodbye. I never had any doubts about the job or my decision, I just didn't want to leave everyone. The kids are going to grow and people will continue with thier lives. Just because I leave doesn't mean life for others stops... as much as I would like it to.

I had breakfast with my parents, a nice way to start the day. Then they drove me to flyaway. We met up with Ashley, her mom and our friend Stephanie. We took some pictures then had our teary goodbye and got on to the bus. When we got off at Terminal 1 for Southwest my jaw almost hit the floor. The longest lines I had ever seen were coming out of he terminal and down the sidewalk. Apparently Southwest had an amazing deal for people flying home after the holiday weekend. We ended up being able to skip 85% of the line because we were checked in online and had our boarding passes already printed out. Thank goodness! However when I went to weigh my bag, I knew I would be over the 50lb max but had no idea it would be by 18lbs. I feel like a diva, I didn't think I packed THAT much but the numbers don't lie.

Going through security I walked through the metal detector and Ashley had the new fancy scanner. It was bound to happen sooner than later, it just happened to be at the first airport for Ashley.

We got on to the 2 1/2 hour flight and landed in Denver. We have slowly met a few of the actors and musicians for the show as well. Everyone was super nice and friendly. We just got to the hotel and are resting before we go find somewhere to eat. You know Ashley and I, food makes our world go round. We always welcome suggestions for things to do or places to eat in each city.

It may take me a few days to get settled in and organized but I will begin my photo taking and try to share some of Denver with you. have a good night all.
